DDi trains fire teams onsite at their workplace anywhere in Johannesburg. Basic Fire Fighting is a 4-hour, OHS Act compliant course with theory, a practical in which everyone discharges a real extinguisher, and an assessment. Onsite it costs from R605 per person for groups of 20 or more (R790 for 5 to 9), excl. VAT, plus travel. We have no venue in Johannesburg: for one or two people, the nearest public class is at our Centurion venue, R890 per person.
How Onsite Training Works
- Enquire online. Tell us your address in Johannesburg, how many people need training and a preferred date, and we send a quote with the travel included.
- Pay and secure your date. Send us each delegate’s ID copy before the day.
- We train at your workplace. Registers and enrolment, theory on the classes of fire and the PASS method (pull, aim, squeeze, sweep), a practical on a real extinguisher, an extinguisher inspection with some faulty on purpose, then a practical and a short theory assessment. We don’t light open fires.
- Certificates on the day. The assessor and facilitator sign the certificates onsite for every delegate found competent.
Fire fighting training in Midrand
Midrand is next door to our Centurion venue, so you have two easy choices. One or two people can take a seat at the public class at 99 Hornbill Avenue, Rooihuiskraal, from 8:30am to 1pm, at R890 each, the final amount. A team in Waterfall, Kyalami, Halfway House or anywhere else in Midrand can have us at your premises instead, with the training extinguishers brought to you. Book a seat on the public class bookings page, or contact us with your address and group size.
Fire fighting training in Sandton
Sandton’s offices need people who know the difference between a CO2 and a dry chemical powder extinguisher before they ever have to choose. From Sandown and Bryanston to the workshops of Wynberg, we train at your premises in 4 hours. Everyone discharges a real extinguisher, which releases dry chemical powder and needs a suitable spot, so tell us about your building and we plan it with you. Some inspectors ask fire fighters to show the PASS method and name the extinguishers in their area, so train the people who work near them.
Fees for Johannesburg Teams
- Groups of 5 to 9: R790 per person, excl. VAT.
- Groups of 20 or more: R605 per person, excl. VAT.
- Fewer than 5 people: a flat rate for the group onsite, or seats in the Centurion public class at R890 each (the final amount).
- 30 or more: ask us, bigger discounts apply.
These are DDi’s 2026 prices; every tier, the small-group rates and the travel amounts are in the prices section below. Request a quote for your site.
How Many People Should You Train?
No regulation sets a number of fire fighters. DDi recommends 3 for every 50 staff, because they work as a team and one of them can be absent, so an office of 60 people trains 6. The calculator on the Basic Fire Fighting page works it out for your headcount. Some inspectors ask fire fighters to show the PASS method and name the extinguishers in their area, so train the people who work near them.
For fire marshals and evacuation wardens, Evacuation Warden training also runs onsite at your workplace.
Travel to Your Johannesburg Workplace
Travel is charged on top of onsite training: R550 flat up to 100 km round trip, then R5.50 per km, excl. VAT, the same rule as everywhere we train, and your quote shows the travel for your address. If only one or two people need the course, they can come to our Centurion venue at 99 Hornbill Avenue, Rooihuiskraal, next door to Midrand and not far off the N1, for a half-day public class from 8:30am to 1pm. Book a seat on the public class bookings page.
The Certificate
The course is OHS Act compliant training, in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and the General Safety Regulations, regulation 13J (fire precautions and means of egress, 2025). The law sets no fixed validity for the certificate: your company’s internal policy, in its health and safety file or SHE policy, sets when people refresh, and DDi recommends every year.
