What the Occupational Health and Safety Act asks of employers, managers and employees.
The legal duties and liabilities the OHS Act places on employers and managers.
Handle, store and work with hazardous chemicals safely, and know what the regulations require.
For section 16(2) appointees
For supervisors appointed under section 16(2) of the OHS Act: the duties that come with the appointment.
Health and safety management for managers: the OHS Act, your responsibilities and leading a safe workplace.
Fire marshal training
Plan and lead a safe evacuation: emergency plans, fire prevention, fire equipment, safety signs and drills.
Online, your wardens learn their roles, the evacuation procedure and how to run a roll call. The practical part, walking your own building, clearing a floor and doing the roll call, works best in person, so we recommend an onsite session (if possible) or a practice evacuation at your workplace afterwards.
These courses have practicals and practical assessments, so they are not run online: First Aid Level 1, First Aid Level 3 and Basic Fire Fighting, as public classes at our Centurion venue or onsite at your workplace. First Aid Level 2 is onsite only.
Many people search for a safety officer course when they need someone at work trained in health and safety. For workplace roles, the route is the course that matches the job: SHE Rep Training for the safety representatives an employer must designate under section 17 of the OHS Act, HIRA Training for the people who assess risk, Incident Investigation for those who investigate incidents, and Supervisor Training (16.2) for appointees under section 16(2). Not sure which one fits? Call us on 061 566 6010.

“This is the best institute to do SHE Rep, Lourens ( the facilitator) teaches in details for everyone to understand and we leave confidently knowing that we can apply the knowledge taught.”
Always so impressed with the high standard of training from DDi OHS. Amanda, our SHE Rep Course Instructor conducted the programme in a very practical way, making the theory easy to cover and apply to our specific field. Can highly recommend this institute! We eagerly await our next training session with DDi OHS!
★★★★★Chloe PretoriusDDI provided practical and informative training to our OHS representatives and First aiders. The presenters are professional and knowledgeable. The customer relations contact did a great job providing the necessary information, taking care of administration and logistical arrangements. We will most certainly make use of their services again to train our staff in the OHS environment.
