Why Incident Investigation Training Matters
When something goes wrong onsite, the natural reaction is to fix it and move on. But without a proper investigation, the same incident is likely to happen again.
Incident investigation training gives your team the ability to:
- Find the root cause of workplace incidents, not just the obvious trigger
- Meet your legal obligations under the OHS Act and Section 24 reporting requirements
- Reduce the risk of repeat incidents through proper corrective actions
- Meet the duty to investigate under section 24, and show an inspector a proper record
- Build a stronger safety culture where incidents are learning opportunities, not just paperwork
The OHS Act requires employers to investigate all Section 24 incidents and any event where medical treatment beyond basic first aid was needed. Getting this wrong leaves the section 24 duty unmet and the same incident likely to happen again.
Who is this course for?
- SHE Representatives and Safety Officers responsible for investigating workplace incidents
- HR professionals dealing with injury-on-duty cases and COID reporting
- Anyone involved in workplace safety who wants to understand the investigation process
Who should attend: section 16(2) appointees and SHE reps, unless your internal incident procedure names others.
No prior investigation experience is needed. We start from the basics and build up to the practical application.
